Are Dummies Good for Babies?

When it comes to keeping your baby happily occupied, many parents consider teethers as an option. While some believe that all pacifiers are safe and effective for soothing emerging teeth, there are actually a wide variety of factors to consider when selecting the best one for your child.

The material it’s crafted from, shape, size and design are all important features to look out for; different babies have different preferences, so do some research to make sure you select something that will be both effective and attractive to your little one.

All in all, with the right teether in hand, you can trust you’ve got another reliable way to bring comfort and happiness during an otherwise uncomfortable period of development. The arrival of teeth does not happen without its share of discomfort and sucking rubber teething dummies helps to soothe sore gums.

How to Sterilise a Dummy

Sterilising a dummy is an important part of maintaining good hygiene and keeping your baby healthy. The steps are simple, and all you need is water, soap or detergent, and vinegar.

  • Begin by washing the dummy with warm soapy water and rinsing it in clean water.
  • Create a sanitising solution from one part vinegar to ten parts hot water and let the dummy soak for five minutes in this mixture.
  • Finally, rinse with clean water again before letting it air-dry. Voila! Your dummy is now sterile and ready for use.

Note: This process should be done regularly /every week for optimal results.

How Many Dummies Does a Baby Need?

Babies love their pacifiers. The sucking motion has a calming effect and tends to keep them satisfied after a feed. But just because they like them, doesn’t mean babies are capable of holding on to them for long periods of time. We all know our little ones tend to explore their world through touch. By holding and releasing their items, they learn about the environment they’re in.

For that reason, it’s good to have a few spares littered across your car, pram and home. That way, if the bubba loses one in transit, you always have one ready to go. We recommend keeping at least four to five pacifiers.

Are Dummy Chains Useful?

Yes, they can be extremely useful. Especially if you’re investing in a spare or two! Dummy chains help keep your pacifiers clipped onto your child’s clothing. This keeps them from disappearing every ten minutes, preventing your baby from getting upset.
